Character History

Johhny was a high tech criminal located in Opal City who developed a device, "The Subspace Transporter", that enabled him to travel in and out of reality. During a fight with The Sandman and his sidekick Sandy the Golden Boy the heroes destroyed his subspace transporter, which threw Johnny into another dimension. Opal City is a fictional city set in the DC Universe. ... In this dimension, the "Subtle Realm", the Lord of the Realm, the King of Tears, gave Jonny new abilities. Johnny Sorrow now appears to be an invisible man in a suit, with an expressionless mask floating where his face should be. When this mask is taken off, anyone who looks into his face will die instantly of shock (though Captain Atom and Shazam eventually came back). Johnny later returned to our world, trying to open a gateway for the King of Tears.


Johnny Sorrow was the founder of the modern incarnation of the Injustice Society, and has worked with them on several occasions. He also once worked with Despero in a plot against the Justice League and the Justice Society. Wizard, Ragdoll, Solomon Grundy, Gentleman Ghost, Tigress and Icicle -- the new version of Injustice Society set to appear in JSA Classified #5-7. ...
