Jon played backup goalkeeper under Joe Cannon. He was given his chance at the starting position when Cannon left the Quakes in 2003 for France, signing a six-month contract with RC Lens of France's Ligue 1. However, sadly, Jon suffered a broken right ankle in preseason and the Quakes were forced to find a replacement. That replacement came in the form of Canadian national team goalkeeper, Pat Onstad, from the Rochester Rhinos of the A-League.
Jon remains as capable backup keeper for the Quakes, playing in the occational US Open Cup games and when Onstad is injurred or away on international duty.
Conway was later assistant to another coach, Ray Hendrickson, for two years and then resigned from coaching for a year.
Conway and Johnstone put up signs on art room doors early this year, stating that unless a student was enrolled in the art course there, they were prohibited from entering the art room.
Conway said he supports the idea of building a new swimming pool that would be attached to the middle school.
Conway has a 0.91 goals-against average and a 6-2-3 record with five shutouts (In contrast, Meola has a 1.45 GAA -- good for 13th -- and a 2-9-9 mark).
Conway, of course, would rather win, 5-4, and have the Red Bulls clinch the fourth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
Conway was selected out of Rutgers by the San Jose Earthquakes in the third round of the 2000 SuperDraft.
