Jordanhill is a mainly middle-class area of the West End of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. Jordanhill has two churches, both on Woodend Drive, off Crow Road. These are Jordanhill Parish Church (Presbyterian) and All Saints Scottish Episcopal Church(Anglican). Both Churches are used for a variety of community and social events, in addition to regular worship. All Saints is also home to Westbourne Gardens Nursery School and the 178th Glasgow Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. There are also a wide variety of asian grocery stores. A beauty salon lies beside the Cafe. This sits next to the region known as "Little Italy" where the backs of the old miners cottages resemble an Italian street.

Modest terraced housing, not detached and semi-detached houses, is most common in the area. Jordanhill also has a variety of other types. There are a few “schemes” in different locations, the most notable being one at the end of Chamberlain Road.


Celebrities

Muriel Gray and David Taylor are both inhabitants of Jordanhill. Dougie Donnelly also stayed in the area and can clearly be seen leaving his former house in a small budget computing video which was made in the 1980s. Other local celebrities associated with Jordanhill are Gail Porter, Donnie Dotaman and Bug and Heather Galbraith. Also Scott leask (Young chef of the year) . One other person worth mentioning is the infamous, notorious, Ross Drummond. Ross Drummond is one of the biggest gangesters in the UK and is rummoured to be involved with the J-Hill Mafia. He was arrested as a young boy for shooting a local in the head with a double barreled shoutgun and was let out januray of this year. He is considered armed and very dangerous.

As well as generalist teaching, Jordanhill College was also the location of the Scottish School of Physical Education, the centre for the training of male specialist physical education teachers in Scotland from 1931 to 1987.
In 1993 the college itself merged with the University of Strathclyde, the Jordanhill campus subsequently serving as home of the Education Faculty.
