Encyclopedia > Jorge Alberti

Jorge Alberto Martinez, artistically known as Jorge Alberti, was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Since little, he showed interest in everything that involved art, sports, music, dancing and acting. At the age of 11, he took guitar and basic piano lessons.

He studied in Madre Cabrini School, and became a member of the theater club showing his acting talents in various plays. He was also part of the Volleyball team, and his dedication made him the most valuable player for 3 consecutive years.

In 1995, Jorge moved to Florida and studied two years of Computer Animation at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Then, he moved back to Puerto Rico in 1999, where he achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design at Sagrado Corazón University. As a part-time, Alberti worked as a model for various best-selling magazines and a local popular TV show "No Te Duermas" that airs in Telemundo/NBC Puerto Rico television network.

In 1999, Jorge took acting classes with Teófilo Torres, a prominent Puerto Rican actor. Opportunity knocked when he got the chance to appear in different theatre plays, acting in "Diálogo de Carmelitas" and "Amor al Prójimo" at Centro de Bellas Artes of Puerto Rico. In 2002, he moved to Mexico and participated in "Intermodel 2002 Acting and Modeling Competition", winning two gold medals as an actor and model. After this, his career started to bloom. Jorge appeared in Mexican soap opera "Como en el Cine" on TV Azteca Mexican television network. Alberti's acting in Reality Show "La Isla de la Tentación" (Telemundo/NBC-USA) was his raising peak in the world of acting in the United States: he made special guest appearances in popular Spanish soap operas "Gata Salvaje" and "Angel Rebelde"; in small series "Al Filo de la Ley" (Univisión) and "America's Most Wanted" (FOX TV); full performances in soap operas "Amor Descarado" and "Anita No Te Rajes" (Telemundo/NBC-USA), and is actually working in soap opera "Passions" transmitted via NBC/Universal televison network.

Alberti takes his acting career seriously, as he keeps taking acting classes with different professional teachers. Among them, Roberto Moll (important Spanish actor) in Miami, and Patrick Malone at the Actors Studio in Los Angeles.

Now, Alberti is back to his beloved Puerto Rico, and is joyful and happy about it. He was recently chosen to become part of the crew in the new local soap opera called "Dueña y Señora"—playing as "Willy"—in Telemundo/NBC Puerto Rico, and transmitted via Venevision Internacional television network.
