SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, mayo 26, 2005.- El empresario mexicano Jorge Vergara ofreció en venta las acciones que posee del equipo costarricense Saprissa, clasificado al mundial de clubes a realizarse en diciembre en Japón.
Jorge Alarcón, gerente del club y compatriota de Vergara, indicó que la decisión surgió como reacción a declaraciones de un ex dirigente en que criticaba que el Saprissa estuviera en manos de un extranjero.
Vergara, dueño de las Chivas del Guadalajara, adquirió la mayoría de acciones del Saprissa en marzo del 2003 cuando se encontraba al borde de la quiebra y desde entonces realizó gran cantidad de reformas.
