Robbie was the original owner of Miami Dolphins (1966-1990). He, along with Don Shula, led the Dolphins to an incomparable 14-0 perfect season and two consecutive Super Bowl wins. Robbie also owned the Miami Toros and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (later the Minnesota Strikers) soccer teams of the North American Soccer League. Joe Robbie Stadium was one of the first major stadiums in the U.S. designed with soccer in mind.
