To joyride is to drive around in a car with no particular goal, a ride taken solely for pleasure. Often, it is assumed that the joyride is done at high speeds in a stolen car, by youths who are not legally old enough to drive. It happens that there are more and more joyriding gangs among the street. People who join this kind of activities are tying to get lots of excitement. They enjoy the high speed, the races with their companions, and sometimes they may have illegal and harmful behaviour towards other innocent people in order to get a supreme excitement. For instance, robbery, mugging, or hurting people on purpose are happening all the time as long as joyriding gangs are existent. So the joyriding gangs really harm communities and individuals, and create a culture of fear in our society. Our government has tried hard to prevent this troublesome situation; in order to tackle joyriding gangs, the government revise the law and met out maximum penalties because heavy sentence are deterrents to criminals. Moreover, government also plans to designate certain areas for legal motorcycle or car races.
