Jubbadda Hoose Region consists of 4 Districts. The regional capital,

  • Kismaayo - populated by Marehan, Sade Darood, Harti, Darood, and Absame clans. Other remaining three districts are: Afmadow, Buula Xaaji, and Xaliima Cadeey.


Kismaayo has become an old important city after 1991 civil war. Most of the power of one of the opposing forces in Mogadishu had shifted to Kismaayo. Leader of the former government, mainly, Darod clan has shifted to Kismaayo. Soon after, the old friends started to fight each other after they had defeated the USC forces of the Hawiye clan. Kismayo, Kismayu, or Chisimayu (Somali: Kismaayo) is a city in the Jubbada Hoose Region, Somalia. ... In 1999, A Marehan leadership has finally made the city of Kismaayo a place of peace and business under the leadership of Barre Adan Shire. A normalcy has returned to the region of Lower Jubba (Jubbada Hoose). The government of Juba Valley Alliance has started major public works such as the face-lift of the old Kismayo port, Airport and the complete overhaul of the football stadium.



By mid 2004 businesses in Kismaayo have become more profitable than Mogadishu or Berbera or any other place for that matter in Somalia that has pseudo-government in place.



Many private businesses and schools have sprouted all over the city of Kismaayo. New buildings for hospitals and hotels have been erected all around. Jubba Valley Alliance hosts visitors of all caliper with convidence and the population of Kismaayo has finally witnessed a return of normalcy, thanks to JVA and its leader Mr Shire, also known to Somalis as Barre Hiiraale.
