The station broadcasts free-to-air on UHF channel 57 in Auckland and also on Sky Network Television's DTH Satellite network, SurfCity Cable TV and TelstraClear's cable networks in Wellington and Christchurch. Juice TV started out as programming on Orange a channel broadcast on Sky Network Television's UHF pay television network. In 1997 it became a full time station on Sky's DTH satellite service. Look up orange in Wiktionary, the free dictionary. ...


The operators of Juice TV also produce J2 a music video only station that is targetted at an older audience. J2 began broadacsting in October 2000 and moved to 24 hour operation in April of 2001.


Both stations use an automated Omneon Spectrumâ„¢ media server playout system to operate 24 hours a day and are funded by advertising paying no access fees for carrige on Sky's platform.


In 2000 New Zealand on Air were in discusions with Juice Music Television to get Juice TV broadcasting free-to-air on a UHF network that covered most metropolian and many regional centres across New Zealand. The plan hinged on securing unused frequencies such as the unused UHF network held by Television New Zealand. The plan did not eventuate.
