The Palm Islands in Dubai are three large artificial islands, currently being constructed by Nakheel.
Such examples of reclaimed land are made feasible in the area by the wide continental shelf off the Dubai coast, with the Persian Gulf at a shallow depth.
The Palm, Deira began construction in November 2004.The Diera Palm is set to be the largest of the three Palms.
