Kern (Australian Colloquialism) Kern is a word commonly used within the Eastern side of Australian. With the prodominant users being teenagers and youths. The definition of Kern is literally beautiful freak, used to define a person who is either physically attractive but is a "bad" person or someone who is physically unattractive but is a "good" person. Thus the coupling of beautiful and freak, commonly used as an explanation as to why an individual dislikes another, such as "She's a kern". The etymology of kern is unknown. Also, the Goth(ic) subculture of Australia are deeply offended if labelled a kern, this lead to the wideuse of kern as a way of labelling goths. However, recently the word kern has lost popularity as an insult and has given way to "Large Sue". For example that girl died her hair black, "she's the Largest Sue I ever saw".
