The station started life in late-1987 as adult-contemporary station KSTZ. KSTZ stayed on the air until March 6, 1991, when it was replaced by KFXB, which simulcatsed with 101.1 FM, WFXB. Both stations were known as "The Fox", and played adult-contemporary music.
