KRCR-TV Channel 7 is an ABC affiliated station which serves parts of Northern California north of Sacramento, including the towns of Redding and Chico. Its studios are located in Redding. Academic Challenge quiz bowl
The station broadcasts a high school quiz bowl program called Academic Challenge on Sundays at 6:30 PM. It began in 1998 and has been hosted ever since then by Gary Gunter. In 2004, the KRCR directors decided to change the format of the show in order to decrease the number of games. It is unknown why this decision was made, or what show will be on during its time slot in weeks with no games.
