KYTV is a UK comedy spoof television show, the TV version of Radio Active. The name KYTV was a spoof television station named after it's alleged owner Kenneth Yellowhammer. His actual title was Sir Kenneth Yellowhammer, and they were to use his title in the name of the station, but unfortunately someone had "beaten them to it" and so KYS TV never came to be. It starred Angus Deayton, Geoffrey Perkins, Philip Pope, Helen Atkinson-Wood and Michael Fenton-Stevens. It was set in a low-budget satellite television station bearing a suspicious similarity to Sky Television. In the second series we learn that KYTV has merged with "BSE Television", just as Sky merged with BSB. The second series also featured parodies of Carlton Television's early logos. KYTV was pure classic comedy and, for once, a breath of fresh air at the time of it's original transmission in the late 80's/early 90's.
KYTV was a spot-on parody of the then rising SKY satellite TV channels right down to the amateur presenters and tacky, cheap and desperate TV shows but it was also a lot more than that.
KYTV is yet another show which hasn't been given much of a commercial release on video but at least what was released were one or two collections of full episodes rathen than sketch compilations (which wouldn't have worked anyway) and are well worth hunting out for any fans of great British comedy.
