Kakunodate (Japanese: 角館町; -machi) is a town located in Senboku District, Akita, Japan.


As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 14,138 and a density of 90.26 persons per kmē. The total area is 156.63 kmē.


The town is famed for its preserved samurai houses and the proliferation of cherry trees. It is a popular destination for o-hanabi, or cherry-blossom viewing.
