The Six Kalimas are recorded in various books of knowledge, and are recited (and remembered) by Muslims across the globe. These kalimas were compiled together for people to memorise and learn the basic fundamentals of Islam. They are not found altogether complete in any one hadith or narration from Muhammad (believed by Muslims to be the final Prophet). However, some of them can be found individually in the narrations. First Kalima

Arabic

لآ اِلَهَ اِلّا اللّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُوُل اللّهِ


Transliteration

Lā ilāha illā-llāh, Muḥammadu-rasūlu-llāh


Translation

There is no god but God Muhammad is the Messenger of God


Second Kalima

Also known as the word of testimony or kalima-e-shahaadat


Arabic

اشْهَدُ انْ لّآ اِلهَ اِلَّا اللّهُ وَحْدَه لَا شَرِيْكَ لَه، وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدً اعَبْدُه وَرَسُولُه


Transliteration

Ašhadu an lā ilāha illā-llāh, waḥdahu lā šarīka lah, wa ašhadu anna Muḥammadun ʿabduhu wa rasūluh.


Translation

I bear witness that none is worthy of worship but God, the One alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger


Third Kalima

Also known as the word of glorification or kalima-e-tamjeed


Arabic

سُبْحَان اللهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ وَ لآ اِلهَ اِلّا اللّهُ، وَ اللّهُ اَكْبَرُ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّة ِ الَّا بِاللّهِ الْعَلِىّ الْعَظِيْم


Transliteration

Subḥāna-llāhi, wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi, wa lā ilāha illā-llāhu, wa-llāhu akbar. Wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāhi-l-ʿaliyyi-l-ʿaẓīm


Translation

Glory be to God and Praise to God, and there is no god But God, and God is the Greatest. And there is no Might or Power except with God, the Exalted, the Great one.


Fourth Kalima

Also know as the word of unity or kalima-e-tauhid

لا الهَ اِلَّا اللّهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيْكَ لَهْ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْى وَ يُمِيْتُ وَ هُوَحَىُّ لَّا يَمُوْتُ اَبَدًا اَبَدًا ط ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ ط بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ ط وَهُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَئ ٍ قَدِيْرٌ


Transliteration

Lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahu lā šarīka lahu lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu yuḥyi wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyu-llā yamūtu abadan abadan, ḏū-l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām, biyadihi-l-khayr, wa huwa ʿalā kulli šayʾin qadīr.


Translation

(There is) none worthy of worship except God. He is only One. (There is) no partners for Him. For Him (is) the Kingdom. And for Him (is) the Praise. He gives life and acuses death. And He (is) Alive. He will not die, never, ever. Possessor of Majesty and Reverence. In His hand (is) the goodness. And He (is) the goodness. And He (is) on everything powerful.


Fifth Kalima

Also known as the word of penitence or kalima-e-astaghfar


Arabic

اسْتَغْفِرُ اللّهَ رَبِّىْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ اَذْنَبْتُه عَمَدًا اَوْ خَطَاً سِرًّا اَوْ عَلَانِيَةً وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَيْهِ مِنْ الذَّنْبِ الَّذِىْ اَعْلَمُ وَ مِنْ الذَّنْبِ الَّذِىْ لا اَعْلَمُ اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الغُيُبِ وَ سَتَّارُ الْعُيُوْبِ و َغَفَّارُ الذُّنُوْبِ وَ لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّهِ الْعَلِىِّ العَظِيْم'


Transliteration

Astaġfiru-llāha rabbī min kulli ḏanbin aḏnabtuhu ʿamadan aw ẖaṭāʾan sirran aw ʿalāniyyatan wa atūbu ilayhi mina-ḏḏanbi-llaḏī aʿlamu wa mina-llaḏī lā aʿlamu innaka anta ʿallāmu-l-ġuyūbi wa sattāru-l-ʿuyūbi wa ġaffāru-ḏḏunūbi wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāhi-l-ʿaliyyi-l-ʿaẓīm.


Translation

I seek forgiveness from God, my Lord, from every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn towards Him from the sin that I know and from the sin that I do not know. Certainly You, You (are) the knower of the hidden things and the Concealer (of) the mistakes and the Forgiver (of) the sins. And (there is) no power and no strength except from God, the Most High, the Most Great


Sixth Kalima

Also known as the words of rejecting disbelief or kalima-e-rud-e-kuffer


Arabic

اَللّهُمََّ اِنّىْ اَعُوْدُ بِكَ مِنْ انْ اُشْرِكَ شَيئًا وََّ اَنَا اَعْلَمُ بِه وَ اسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لا اَعْلَمُ بِه تُبْتُ عَنْهُ وَ تَبَرَّاْتُ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَ الشّرْكِ وَ الْكِذْبِ وَ الْغِيْبَةِ وَ الْبِدْعَةِ وَ النَّمِيْمَةِ وَ الْفَوَاحِشِ وَ الْبُهْتَانِ وَ الْمَعَاصِىْ كُلِّهَا وَ اَسْلَمْتُ وَ اَقُوْلُ لآ اِلهَ اِلَّا اللّهُ مُحَمَّدُ رَّسُوْلُ اللّهِ


Transliteration

Allāhumma innī aʿūḏu bika min an ušrika bika šayʾan-wwa-anā aʿlamu bihi wa-staġfiruka lamā lā aʿlamu bihi tubtu ʿanhu wa tabarrātu mina-l-kufri wa-šširki wa-l-kiḏbi wa-l-ġībati wa-l-bidʿati wa-nnamīmati wa-l-fawāḥiši wa-l-buhtāna wa-l-maʿāṣī kullihā wa aslamtu wa aqūlu lā ilāha illā-llāhu muḥammadu-rasūlu-llāh.


Translation

O Allah! Certainly I seek protection with You from, that I associate partner with You anything and I know it. And I seek forgiveness from You for that I do not know it. I repended from it and I made myself free from disbelief and polytheism and the falsehood and the back-biting and the innovation and the tell-tales and the bad deeds and the blame and the disobedience, all of them. And I submit and I say (there is) none worthy of worship except God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God.

That is why a person who recites the Kalimah with sincerity of heart with certainly be pardoned and admitted into Paradise.
Two possibilities are however there: he may have to suffer some punishment for his sins according to the general rule before being forgiven, or he may be forgiven forthwith without any punishment by Almighty Allah out of sheer Mercy and Grace.
That a person who recites Kalimah Tayyabah with sincerity will, as a rule, be safe from the fire of Hell is conditional on his being free from the major sins.
