Kang is a dahar master, and an honored Klingon warrior whose adventures are retold in the great Klingon epic 'The Fall of Kang' by G'Trok. An excerpt from the song goes like this:

So honor the valiant who die 'neath your sword, But pity the warrior who slays all his foes.

Kang's inital appearance was in the Star Trek episode "The Day of the Dove." In this episode, Kang, his wife Mara, and 40 of his crew are rescued by the Enterprise from their wrecked ship. An alien force tries to make the Klingons and the Starfleet personnel to fight each other. Eventually Captain Kirk found out what was going on, and convinced Kang to stop fighting as well. Realizing the Klingons and the Enterprise crew are no longer willing to be manipulated, the alien force departs. Kang tells the alien force that "only a fool fights in a burning house."

Kang met Curzon Dax at the Korvat colony and became good friends with him, so much so that Kang named his firstborn "Dax". When the child was killed by a genetic mutation engineered by the Albino, Kang swore a blood oath of revenge with Kor, Koloth and Curzon Dax, which they fulfilled on 2370.
