Among some American students, Kansai Gaidai is also known for its large Asian Studies program for international exchange students as well as its Intensive English Studies program for Japanese students planning to study abroad. There are two academic campuses: the Nakamiya Campus and the Hotani Campus. There is also the Katahoko campus, which consists of four dormitories and a gymnasium. Background
The original Katahoko campus was founded in 1945 as an English Language School. Today, the Katahoko campus no longer functions in an academic capacity. In its place, the new Nakamiya campus, opened in April 2002, now operates as the main campus of the university.
