Karachi district is the most populous of the Districts of Pakistan. It was formed by the merger of the five districts of Karachi Central, Karachi East, Karachi South, Karachi West and Malir. It is largely conterminous with Pakistan's largest city, Karachi.
Karachi (Urdu: كراچى, Sindhi: ڪراچي/कराची) is the capital of the province of Sindh, and the most populated city in Pakistan, sometimes known as the City of Quaid (شہرِ قائد), after Muhammad Ali Jinnah the founder of Pakistan.
Karachi gained in position as a port which led to its importance being recognized by the British, and consequently led to the conquering of the town on the February 3, 1839.
Karachi is the provincial capital of Sindh Provincial region.
