Farkas sollte auf Wunsch seiner Eltern Jurist werden, entschied sich jedoch für die Bühnenlaufbahn. Er besuchte die Akademie für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien und debütierte in Olmütz als Zarewitsch in einem Stück von Gabryela Zapolska. Nach verschiedenen Auftritten in Mähren und Österreich kehrte er 1921 nach Wien zurück und wurde von Direktor Egon Dorn an das Kabarett Simpl engagiert. Dort betätigte er sich als Blitzdichter (Spitzname: "Die Zecke") und trat gemeinsam mit Fritz Grünbaum in Doppelconférencen auf, einer Kunstform, die in Budapest entstand. 1924 heiratete er die Schauspielerin Anny Hán. 1938 musste Farkas vorerst nach Brünn, und dann über Paris nach New York City fliehen, wo er vor anderen Exilanten auftrat. The programme was a mixture from the repertoires of the "Scharfrichter" and Viennese authors and performers such as Otto Julius Bierbaum, Frank Wedekind, Erich Mühsam, Peter Altenberg, Roda Roda, Egon Friedell, Carl Hollitzer and Gertrude Barrison.

09-14-88 Court hears Drescher case By BRIAN FARKAS CHARLESTON, W.Va. (UPI) _ A lawyer repr (449 words)
Moundsville lawyer Mark Karl told the high court the order should be overturned because the judge ignored the testimony of four witnesses who said Drescher was in Ohio when Bryant was murdered.
Karl also said the only evidence linking Drescher to California is a sworn statement from the manager of a car rental agency, given 15 months after the shooting.
Drescher's signature was on the rental agreement, but Karl said a handwriting expert could not positively say it was Drescher's.
