Kathy Whitworth (born September 27, 1939 in Monahans, Texas) was an American professional golfer. Throughout her career she won 88 LPGA Tour tournaments, more than anyone else has won on either the LPGA Tour or the PGA Tour. In 1981 she became the first woman to reach career earnings of $1 million on the LPGA Tour. The first woman golfer to collect $1 million in winnings, she is also a seven-time winner of both the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA) Player of the Year Award (1966-1969, 1971-1973) and the Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average (1965-1967, 1969-1972).
