Originally released in March 1975, Katy Lied was the fourth album to be released by rock group Steely Dan. Though it went gold and peaked at #13 on the charts, Becker and Fagen weren't happy with its low sound quality from an equipment malfunction and refused to listen to it when it was complete. This malfunction is most obvious at the very beginning of the track "Dr. Wu," if one listens carefully, the saxophone is supposed to have no feeling in it whatsoever, according to Denny Dias.
