Ken Tamplin is a Christian Rock performer. He is one of the founding members of the group Shout, along with Chuck King. While being raised in a Christian home, Ken Tamplin, cousin to Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, began playing guitar at age six and singing at age nine, but he was expected to die at age 12 when a homemade rocket exploded and almost blew him up. In a medically documented case, he was miraculously healed through prayer. Backsliding in his early teens, Tamplin overdosed on angel dust four times, used and sold cocaine, hash and other drugs. He decided to recommit his life to God at age 14. "I've been on fire for Him ever since", Tamplin was quoted as saying.
