A mellowed Reeves takes over - The Boston Globe (663 words)
Reeves, 54, a council member for 16 years who also served as mayor from 1992 through 1995, said his first task will be to sit down with his colleagues and make a plan.
Reeves, who as mayor will also chair the Cambridge School Committee, would like to see the schools become more competitive in biological science, one of the city's most prominent economic sectors.
During his acceptance speech, Reeves made a point to list the commitment of mayors before him, in particular Walter Sullivan, who served on the Cambridge City Council for 34 years and for whom the chamber is named.
