Kent City is a village located in Kent County, Michigan, United States. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,061.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.90% is water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 1,061 people, 373 households, and 270 families residing in the village. The population density is 375.8/km² (969.2/mi²). There are 392 housing units at an average density of 138.9/km² (358.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 94.82% White, 0.28% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 3.20% from other races, and 1.51% from two or more races. 11.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 373 households out of which 46.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.9% are married couples living together, 15.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% are non-families. 23.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.33.
