In February 2005, the station came under scrutiny from radio regulator Ofcom following an incident in which the presenter of the late-night Asylum show, Tim Shaw, staged a break-in at the house of programme director Andrew Jeffries as "revenge" for Shaw's "sacking". Shaw was taken off-air for several weeks and a website was created campaigning for his "reinstatement". The entire episode was later revealed to be little more than an elaborate publicity stunt. Later that year, in June, Shaw once again graced the pages of the national press after his Lotus sports car was apparently "sold" on auction website eBay by his jealous wife after he was heard flirting with model Jodie Marsh on the air. A look through his wife's eBay history showed a large amount of spurious positive feedbacks on spurious auctions - ones with no items for sale, sold to the same person; which could possibly imply the auction was entirely faked.
