Hon Kevin Andrews

Kevin James Andrews (born 9 November 1955), is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives since May 1991, representing the electorate of Menzies in Victoria. He was born in Sale, Victoria, and was educated at Monash University, Melbourne. He was a barrister before entering politics. He is known for being a staunch Catholic.


Andrews was Co-ordinator of Continuing Legal Education for the Law Institute of Victoria 1981-83 and an Associate to Sir James Gobbo, Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, 1983-85.


As a backbencher Andrews authored a bill which overrode the Northern Territory legislation legalising assisted suicide.


Andrews was Minister for Ageing 2001-03 and has been Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations since 2003.
