Khazanah Nasional Berhad is the investment holding arm of the government of Malaysia to manage its commercial assets. It is the trustee to the nation's financial assets. Its objectives are "to promote economic growth and make strategic investments on behalf of the government which would contribute towards nation building". It was incorporated in September, 1993 and began operations in 1994. Khazanah Nasional Bhd saw the value of its assets jump 87 per cent to RM62.2 billion over the last three years since a programme to revamp state-owned firms started in May 2004.Khazanah has also made a total return of RM8.9 billion on 28 new investments worth RM21.1 billion in the last three years.
