Early life

Khia was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania[2] but later moved to Tampa, Florida.[2] She first wanted to be a musical performer in her early years while attending school talent shows and taking part in parades. After studying tap dance and bartending in a Tampa Bay hot spot, she became acquainted with several DJs and producers from the area which led her to getting a record deal. Her hit "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)" became a "breakthrough hit (MELODY)", charting at number forty-two on the Billboard Hot 100. The video was edited in order to play on networks such as BET and for radio due to its hardcore explicit lyrics which refer to cunnilingus and anilingus. After years of touring, Khia's second album, Gangstress, was released in July 2006 on her own independent record label, Thug Misses Entertainment (or T.M.E. Records). The album was released in a clean and explicit version. She also helped develop background instrumentals or "beats" for the 2006 project, but all lyrics have been written by the self-proclaimed "Queen of the South" herself. After signed a contact with Big Cat Records and still with her own label Thug Misses Entertainment , Khia has finished working on her third album entitled "Nasti Muzik". This will be the follow up to her last album Gangstress. The album is scheduled to be released July 8, 2008. Khia states, "My third album will definitely show my growth as an Artist and Producer. I’ve been through a lot and my lyrics will prove it". President of Big Cat Records "Mel Breeden" saying, "Signing Khia to the label was a no-brainer. Everyone knows who she is.
