Early life

Khia was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania^[2] but later moved to Tampa, Florida.^[2] She first wanted to be a musical performer in her early years while attending school talent shows and taking part in parades. After studying tap dance and bartending in a Tampa Bay hot spot, she became acquainted with several DJs and producers from the area which led her to getting a record deal. After years of touring, Khia's second album, Gangstress, was released in July 2006 on her own independent record label, Thug Misses Entertainment (or T.M.E. Records). The album was released in a clean and explicit version. She also helped develop background instrumentals or "beats" for the 2006 project, but all lyrics have been written by the self-proclaimed "Queen of the South" herself. This will be the follow up to her last album Gangstress. The album is scheduled to be released July 8, 2008. Khia states, "My third album will definitely show my growth as an Artist and Producer.
