Like Icarus I, Icarus II was a rigid biplaneflying wing. Its most notable improvement over Icarus I was that the wings were swept back more steeply. It was steered by hand controlled rudders, unlike Rogallo wing hang gliders of the time that were steered by the pilot shifting his body weight. Also unlike other hang gliders, the pilot flew in a reclining position rather than a prone position. It was a rigid-wing, tailless biplane and Taras named it "Icarus" after the Greek legend of a father and son who fashioned wings made of feathers and wax.
He soon finished the "IcarusII" and the original "Icarus" became the "Icarus I." The "IcarusII" was another biplane but the wings swept back more steeply.
