Kinda is a municipality in Östergötland County, southeast Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 1,132.9 km². Of the total population of 10,129, 5,110 are male, and 5,019 female. The population density of the community is 9 inhabitants per km². The municipal seat is located in Kisa.
The Kinda Canal and its vital artificial section are part of a waterway that takes the traveller through an enchanting canal and lake system in southern Östergötland renowned for its natural beauty.
This new Kinda Canal route would for the most part follow the natural course of the Stångån river towards Linköping, except for the southern part between St Rängen and Hovetorp.
The AB Kinda Kanal company is currently owned by the Östergötland County Council, Linköping Municipality, KindaMunicipality and the Göta Canal Company.
