Founded in 1997 primarily to give women in King's the opportunity to sing in the college chapel and contribute vocally to the musical life of the college, the choir's main committment is to sing evensong on Mondays (when the main choir has its day off) but KV also participates in concerts in and out of Cambridge and has sung services in Ely Cathedral and St. George's Chapel, Windsor. Its current director is Simon Brown, also director of music at the King's College School. In recent years, KV has toured to Paris (2003), including concert performances at Notre Dame and La Madeleine, Amsterdam (2004), and Brussels (2005). King'sVoices, the mixed voice choir of King's College, was founded in October 1997 under the direction of Dr John Butt (Director of Studies for Music at King's, 1997-2001) to give the women of King's the opportunity to contribute vocally to the musical life of the College.
In addition to these services, King'sVoices sings in the College's May Week concert, performs both sacred and secular music at College formal dinners and enjoys regular visits to Ely Cathedral to sing Evensong as one of the cathedral's Visiting Choirs.
In 2002, King'sVoices went on a very successful tour to Venice and Florence, and in 2003 enjoyed a tour to Paris, which included a concert performance at Notre Dame.
