Kinky boots are boots which are intended for or by some people are connected to some kind of shoe fetishism and thus a form of fetish clothing. The term is ambiguous, since what can be considered kinky by some can be seen as elegant and trendy by others. Usually, the term is however probably most connected to the type of thigh-high boots used e.g. by Julia Roberts in the movie Pretty Woman and by Madonna in her "Re-Invention" World Tour in 2004.
Patrick Macnee and Honor Blackman, stars of the 1960s TV series The Avengers, released a song called "Kinky Boots", based on their characters in the series.
The kinkyboots produced by the company are memorably described as "two-and-a-half feet of irresistible, tubular sex." They are also the closest thing to sex you will see in the entire movie.
What "KinkyBoots" has going for it is a terrific performance from Chiwetel Ejiofor as Lola, who serves as the emotional heart of the film.
In spite of the fact that "KinkyBoots" boldly goes where lots of films have gone before, it is still an enjoyable romp with glam and sweetness to spare.
"KinkyBoots" has much in common with the Cinderella tale: A prince of a man meets a fair maiden, provides her footwear and both live happily ever after.
"KinkyBoots" questions society's ideas of identity, specifically what it means to be a man. Charlie's manliness is tied up in success and responsibility to his family, his fiancee and his factory workers -- but ultimately to himself.
In the end, if "KinkyBoots" were a pair of shoes, it would be solidly constructed pumps with moderate heels and cute accents that will make them a favorite for a couple seasons, but after its novelty has worn off, left with fond memories in the closet.
