Kirby Keger

Kirby Keger waiting outside for Dale Biberman.

At the start of the film, Kirby has his heart set on law school. However, that changes when Kirby meets an old girlfriend, Dale Biberman, while waiting for two of his friends at the hospital after a car accident. He is immediatley smitten with her and obsessively thinks of her and how to win her heart. He gets her hospital schedule, follows her around on his bike, and even reserves a table in an eclusive and expensive resteraunt for a lunch date with her. However, her busy schedule always changes to his disadvantage, and Dale always gets called away. These setbacks make Kirby more and more obsessed. He switches his prospects from lawyer to doctor in order to impress her.

One night, Kirby follows Dale to a party, where he confesses his love for her. Dale takes Kirby back to her apartment and tries to convince him that she isn't worth everything. However, Kirby misinterprets her to mean that she only cares about money. Kirby drops the doctor prospects and goes to work house-sitting for a rich Korean enterpreneur and uses his house, limo, and limo driver to imporess Dale. He even throws a huge party just for her...but she never shows up. Kirby chases her into the mountains after hearing that she'd gone skiing, only to find out she was in a relationship. Embarrassed, Kirby tries to leave, but the car gets stuck in the snow. Kirby ends up staying the night, angry and embarrassed.

Dale Biberman

The object of Kirby's affection.

The next morning, as he is about to leave, he kisses Dale on a whim, and she doesn't resist. As he drives away, he punches the air with his fist anbd laughs hysterically.

Later on, he regrets losing Dale and finds himself out of work and trying to get back into law school. He finds solace in roommate Kevin Dolenz, who has also recently loved and lost.

Trivia
