Kitahiroshima (北広島市 Kitahiroshima-shi) is a city located in Ishikari, Hokkaido, Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 59,261 and the density of 499.92 persons per km². The total area is 118.54 km².
The city was founded on September 1, 1996, after the town Hiroshima was reorganized as a city.
It is accessed by routes 36, 274 and the expressway with the interchange in the west. The urban sprwal of the Sapporo area are in the western part which the new part is bypassed.
In 1981, the bypass of route 274 was opened and the bypass of route 36 was opened in 1986.
The City of Kitahiroshima is situated on gentle hills between Sapporo and the Shin-Chitose Airport.
The City of Kitahiroshima is located in the center of Doh-Oh (central Hokkaido) district.
Kitahiroshima was regarded as a point of traffic important from early times, and now the established road network such as national highways and prefectural roads gives the City geographic advantage.
