Klaipėda County is one of ten counties in Lithuania. It lies in the west of the country and is the only county to have a coastline. Its capital is Klaipėda.

Klaipeda is also the biggest center of culture, education and industry in the Western part of Lithuania.
However, Klaipeda experienced its golden age only in lath century, when close trading connections between the kingdom of Prussia and the Lithuanian-Polish state were established.

At the heart of the county is Klaipeda city, the third largest city by size in Lithuania, and its only seaport, the functioning of which influences the economy of the region, its structure as well as the lifestyle of inhabitants.
Klaipeda county borders on the Russian enclave Kaliningrad in the south and Latvia in the north.
