Encyclopedia > Knights' Kingdom

Knights' Kingdom is a LEGO toyline, aimed at six to twelve year-olds, and was first officially announced in November 2003, in the British version of the LEGO magazine. In spring 2004, the large action figures were released in Europe, whilst America received them several months later. Both continents obtained the playsets in the summer. Knights' Kingdom chronicles the legends of the Kingdom of Morcia, a fantasy world, and the adventures that take place within it. The main characters are the knights of the opposing factions. It is a revamped version of an earlier Knights' Kingdom LEGO theme, featuring larger, action-figure like characters as well as more colourfully attired mini-figures in the traditional sets. While officially titled Knights' Kingdom on its packaging, it is popularly known as Knights' Kingdom II in order to differentiate it from the original theme which only included LEGO mini-figures and featured different knight, king, and villain characters. It was also made into a trading card game. Lego Group logo The classic red 2x4 Lego brick. ... Prologue: Orlan and the Great Sorcerer

Long ago, a great sorcerer from another dimension invaded the peaceful lands of Ankoria, using his magic powers to conquer the land and its people. He was only defeated when Orlan, a powerful Knight of the Citadel created the Shield of Ages, and used it to banish the Great Sorcerer. He then founded the Kingdom of Morcia, becoming its first King, and established the order of the Hero Knights, a group of men dedicated to protecting the land and people. Part 1: Find the Shield

The Takeover

Generations later, the ageing but wise King Mathias was the current ruler of the Kingdom, and Morcia prospered under his rule. However, his close advisor, Lord Vladek, was furious that years ago, he had lost the throne to Mathias in the Great Tournament, and he had been plotting revenge on the King ever since his defeat. Soon, he secretly captured the King and took control of the land with an army of magically corrupted Knights, commonly known as Shadow Knights, due to their dark armour. The people of Morcia could do nothing to break Vladek's hold on the land. But four remaining Knights, still loyal to King Mathias, Sir Jayko the Quick, Sir Rascus the Joker, Sir Santis the Strong and Sir Danju the Clever, joined together to investigate the King's disappearance. Sir Jayko found the King inprisoned deep within the dungeons under the Castle, where the Knights battled and defeated the Shadow Knights guarding him, and freed King Mathias. They had hoped that freeing him would stop Lord Vladek's rule, but Mathias told them that Vladek was using magical powers from the Great Sorcerer to defeat anyone who challenged him. The Knights' only hope was to recover the Shield of Ages from the Citadel of Orlan, deep within the Moorlands. The Knights hid the injured King Mathias in the forests, and then vowed to find the Shield of Ages. King Mathias is the current king of Knights Kingdom. ... The Journey

Led by Sir Danju, the four Knights left Morcia and entered the Moorlands. At the Border Outpost, Sir Santis took the key to the Citadel from the Shadow Knights guarding it. They pressed onwards, with Danju and Jayko charting the way, and Rascus and Santis gathering food. After many adventures, fighting Shadow Knights and Moorlands beasts, they reached the Citadel of Orlan. At the entrance, they met an old man, who told them that only the best Knights could enter. The Knights challenged his proclamation, but he vanished into the air. Santis raised the drawbridge, allowing the Knights in. Danju showed them the way through the corridors of the Citadel. Together, Jayko and Santis overpowered a giant serpent, whilst Rascus climbed the tower and opened the way in with the key. The other Knights entered. When they reached the top of the tower, they were about to take the Shield of Ages, but the Guardian of the Citadel, clad in mighty armour, stopped them. Jayko was about to attack him, but Danju instead asked the Guardian kindly for the Shield, claiming that they needed it to stop Vladek. The Guardian, moved by compassion, gave the Knights the Shield. The Knights rejoiced, and began the journey back to Morcia.

The Return

On the way back to Morcia, the Knights encountered Vladek himself, mounted on a horse. Danju stayed behind and used a catapult to hold him back, whilst Jayko, Santis, and Rascus hurried to Castle Talonjay. There, they stopped a force of Shadow Knights from taking the Castle with siege towers. After that, the three younger Knights regrouped with Danju, and continued onwards towards the Castle of Morcia and the Grand Tournament. Along the way, they met up with King Mathias, who was by now fully healed. There, they learned that Lord Vladek was about to become King, as he had already defeated the other contestants for the crown with his magic. The four Knights and their King rushed to the Grand Tournament, to stop Lord Vladek from winning the Tournament and becoming the unrightful King of Morcia. As King Mathias, Danju, Santis and Rascus held back the Shadow Knights, Jayko battled Vladek for the fate of Morcia. In a joust, Vladek knocked the young Knight off his horse, and started shooting magic lightning at Jayko, but Jayko grabbed the Shield of Ages, and used it to reflect the lightning back at Vladek who was hrown to the ground by the power of his own lightning, defeating him. The Shadow Knights were freed from Vladek's curse, King Mathias was restored to the throne, and the Knights were given high honours for their deeds. But soon, Lord Vladek escaped from his prison and fled far away. Everyone in the Kingdom knew that he would be back someday.

Part 2: Capture the Fortress

The four Knights stopped Vladek and Mathias stripped him of his armour, sword, and shield, then locked him in the Dungeons. But Vladek fled to Ankoria, built a Dark Fortress, and created more Shadow Knights. Mathias used the Heart of the Shield on the Knights, giving them new armour, swords, and shields.
