Encyclopedia > Kolmanskop

Kolmanskop is a small mining village a few km inland from Luderitz, on the southern couast of Namibia. It was built after the discovery of diamonds in the area to provide shelter for workers from the harsh evironemnt of the Namib desert.


It now lies abandoned and makes a great attraction for tourist, both for history and photo enthusiasts.
