Koudougou is a town in the province of Boulkiemdé, 75km west of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. It is mainly inhabited by Mossi, with approx. 44,000 inhabitants. It's situated at the only railway line of the country and harbours some industries, like a factory for shea butter, a cotton factory and various textile factories.
Saaba is a troupe of musicians, singers and dancers, originating from Koudougou, the third largest town of Burkina Faso, located in Mossi land, roughly one hundred kilometres west of the capital Ouagadougou.
Koudougou is the chief town of the province of Boulklende, and is mainly populated by Mossis and Gourounsis but other ethnic groups may also be found, attracted there by the two textile and cotton factories (Faso Fani and Sofitex).
Koudbl Koala is also behind the creation, in 1996, of the Koudougou Atypical festival which focuses on African actualities, and which concentrates on the logic of popular education and local development, both being of utmost importance as far as Africa's future is concerned.
