Kovačica (Serbian: Ковачица; Slovak: Kovačica; Romanian: Kovăciţa or Covăciţa) is a town located in Vojvodina, Serbia and Montenegro. According to 1991 census, Municipality of Kovacica had population of 30469, and total area of 419 km². It is widely known by its naïve art.
The reason we were going was that Kovacica is famous for folk art, housing the Museum of Naive Art, and the studios of several naive artists (as in folk artists).
Kovacica is a Slovak enclave in Vojvodina, the most fertile province in Serbia.
But she was pretty interesting and explained about how Kovacica is one of the last remaining large centres of naive art in the area of the former Yugoslavia, with an impressive total of 27 artists.
Kovacica, the place of wide, straight streets with a lot of greenery, with worthily, hospitable people, is situated on the North-East of Belgrade about 50km from the Yugoslav capital.
Kovacica is the center of community which is special and extraordinary by many things.
Kovacica is famous as a center of naive art because of the work of naive painters from Kovacica for more then 40 years.
