Kremenchuk (Ukrainian: Кременчук) is an important industrial city in central Ukraine, located on the banks of Dnipro.


Administratively, Kremenchuk is a part of Poltavs'ka oblast' and the center of its Kremenchutz'kyi raion (district).


Its population is 226,100 (as of 2004).


Kremenchuk was founded in 1571.


Economy

Kremenchuk is a home to the KrAZ truck-manufacturing company (one of the largest in former Soviet Union) and a major oil-refining plant. It is also an important riverport.
