Kyenjojo is a district in western Uganda. Like other Ugandan districts, it is named after its 'chief town'. It was made a district in 2000. Several sources state that the population is around 400,000 people. The district is divided into two counties, Mwenge and Kyaka. Kyenjojo means: "the place where elephants live"; it is derived from the lutooro word "enjojo", elephant(s). Like in most Ugandan Bantu languages, "Mwenge" means "banana beer". Mwenge county is famous for its banana beer. The meaning of the word "Kyaka" is unclear. Image File history File links Map of Uganda showing Kyenjojo District; created with the GIMP.
