Louis Martin Robert Rutten (June 4, 1884 Maastricht - February 11, 1946 Utrecht) was a Dutch geologist. In the first part of the twentieth century he mapped large parts of the islands of the Dutch East Indies, Cuba, the Betic Cordilleras and the Dutch Antilles. He was the father of the biologist and geologist M.G. Rutten. After finishing his studies he was employed by the Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij, a precessor of Royal Dutch Shell, for which he was sent to Borneo to search for oil.
