The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Thompson Class A2 was a class of steam locomotive designed for express passenger work. There were three subclasses; the A2/1 (4 engines) which were originally ordered as V2 2-6-2s, the A2/2 (6 engines) rebuilt from P2 2-8-2s and A2/3 (15 engines) which were new builds. None has survived. The London and North Eastern Railway or LNER was the second-largest of the Big Four railway companies created by the Railways Act 1921 in Britain. ...
