La Antigua or José Cardel, is a city in Veracruz, Mexico. The house of Hernán Cortés is a popular tourist attraction in the city. The oldest church in the Americas was founded by Cortés in the early 1500s.


La Antigua is also a municipality (pop. 606) in the province of León, Castile-Leon, Spain.
