Review

This series is said to be another TVB classic masterpiece. It contains many realistic elements relating to the life of a woman in today's modern society, particularly in Hong Kong. Many audience members feel like they can relate to the characters in the story. There is one particular scene where Sheren Tang's character is scolding Melissa Ng's character for her weak personality, many audience members cried out while watching the scene as it reflected their personalities in real life.

There are three pairs of couples in the series. The main pair is Raymond Lam and Melissa Ng. Their story focuses on the fact that society believes that the wife should be younger than the husband. However, Raymond, in the show, had been in love with his tutor (Melissa, who was 18) ever since he was 11 years old. Their love story was very touching and it went against the traditional Chinese values. The ending, which was set at the beach, was especially compelling and made many audience members cry. Ah Ling and Siu Chai's romance story has touched the hearts of many viewers.

The second pair is Michael Tse and Sheren Tang. Their story focuses on their quest to power and fame, their readiness to sacrifice anything - even their loved ones - for the sake of climbing the corporate ladder. However, throughout the show, their characters began to make the realization that love and family are actually much more significant in life than success in the business world.

Finally, the third pair is Kenneth Ma and Kate Tsui. Their story focuses on the women's status in the modern society. Kenneth, who has very old-fashioned thinking, believes that women cannot become sushi masters. According to Kenneth, women's role should be staying at home, cooking, serving their husbands and caring for the children. Kate Tsui, on the other hand, is a very strong-willed modern Chinese woman. Through her determination, confidence and persistence, she became much more talented in sushi-making than Kenneth. Throughout their love story, they had frequent conflicts and arguments over the rights and roles of women. It is only until the end does Kenneth make the realization that women can indeed accomplish greater accomplishments than men.

This whole entire series concentrates on the roles of women in the modern society. There were three types of women, portrayed by the three main characters. Melissa (Ah Ling) plays the role of a 小女人 (a woman who believes that her life's goal is to get married and obey her husband). Through her experiences like getting divorced with Michael and meeting Raymond, she grows to be much more independent and strong. Sheren plays the role of a 女强人 (a strong-willed woman whose mind is set on climbing the corporate ladder and resist romance and dependency on men.). Through her journey with Michael, she began to change, although she never came to believe in marriage even at the end of the show, she had learned that there are indeed men in this world whom she could trust and love. Finally, Kate plays the role of a young, ambitious and confident woman. Viewers can learn a lot from her persistence and strong will to pursue women's rights.
