Lady in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening.
Lady in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening.

Lady is a female character in the video game Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening. Her real name is Mary, and she has made it her mission to hunt and destroy the devils. She regards Dante as a demon, regardless of his half-human lineage. Dante first meets Lady in Mission Three, after defeating Cerberus. She is a no-nonsense type of woman, who will do anything to achieve her goals, which is nearly a complete opposite to the immature, boastful Dante. Lady wields a large cannon-like weapon called "Kalina Ann". She named this gun after her mother. Towards the end of the game, she realises she can trust Dante and entrusts him with this weapon, as she is too injured to keep up, and must rest.

It is later revealed that Arkham (whether this is his first name or surname is never clear), the mysterious man both she and Dante have been following throughout the game, is in fact her father. He sacrificed his wife Kalina Ann in order to gain the demonic powers needed to unseal the gate of Hell (although this attempt decidedly failed, this may explain his burnt face and his alter-ego Jester, who possesses agility that far surpasses either Dante or Vergil and the ability to walk on walls and ceilings). Lady gave up her birth name and set out to find her father, and kill him. Right before she finishes her father off (he was weakened by the twins), she utters the following quote: Arkham is a fictional city in Massachusetts. ... Dante from Devil May Cry with Alastor. ... Jester is the alterego of the antagonist Arkham of the Capcom video game Devil May Cry 3. ...

"Mary died a long time ago. My name is Lady."

Lady was the name Dante gave her after she told him that he may call her 'whatever he wanted'. She keeps this name out of respect for Dante, as she only acknowledges it at the end of the game, after she had seen that Dante was not an 'evil' or 'bad' demon. Although she has no supernatural powers to speak of, Lady carries an arsenal of weapons, including a Handgun and a set of twin Machineguns. She travels on an extremely powerful motorbike, and uses Kalina Ann's attached grappling hook to scale buildings. She has extremely good skills, athletically and weapons-wise, and can be seen throughout the game destroying demons rather easily.

Throughout the game, Lady's appearances usually show a number (burnt demons fall into the shape of a three, demon's blood form the shape of a six, etc.). At the beginning of each level, a number is hidden somewhere in the cutscene that is also the mission number (the number 1 is found in the mission 1 cutscene when the camera zooms over the pizza box).
