Lafayette is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,586 at the 2000 census. The 2006 population estimate is 3,440 residents.^[1] Lafayette was the county seat of Yamhill County from its founding in 1843 until 1886, when county residents voted to move the county seat to McMinnville.
