History

Originally built in 1935, the facilities have had substantial and continual renovation. The school now boasts state of the art science labs, a studio theater, an auditorium theater, a complete array of special education facilities, 8 computer labs and 3 mobile laptop carts, a state-of-the-art foreign language lab, a student publication center, photography lab, a television studio with a collection of 5,500 curriculum-related videotapes, a computerized library with CD-ROM information retrieval, a field house with climbing wall.


Every room has been outfitted with a ceiling-mounted projector within the last year. The school has recently spent $4 million renovating its auditorium. LFHS' field house was completed in the 1990s and is outfitted with a continually improving climbing wall, Mount Scout.


The grounds are well kept, and they include: A large front lawn, used for Field Hockey and other sports such as lacrosse and ultimate, and a full-sized track and Football field with 2 full sets of bleachers. Due to the school being situated very near residential areas, the city of Lake Forest does not permit the football team to use lights at the football field for night games. This issue is being addressed with the referendum, where a new Varsity field is to be constructed at the west campus. The referendum passed by an overwhelming 2/3 majority, and renovations are set to take place in two phases. The first phase, to be completed by the 2007/2008 school year includes the addition of a music wing, and renovation of the west campus including construction of a Varsity field. The second phase, to be completed by August of 2008, will include academic renovations at the east campus, and construction of administrative offices at the west campus.
