Lake Lugano (ItalianLago di Lugano or Ceresio) is a lake in the south-east of Switzerland, at the border between Switzerland and Italy. The lake is situated between Lago Maggiore and Lago di Como. Places at the lake include:
This lake is the Cinderella among the sisters, untamed, unsophisticated, and unpremeditated, a wild little thing with savage, bizarre twists and turns.
Lugano has now also a cable line running up from the quay to the high-placed station of the St. Gothard R. R., and another line mounting to the near-by view-point, Monte San Salvatore; likewise an electric line connecting the two cable roads and branching out into the surrounding country.
Naturally the supply of water in all the Italian lakes is largely dependent upon the condition of the snow in the mountains.
With its picturesque houses, red tiled roofs and its old church tower, Porlezza is at the heart of the beautiful Valsolda Valley – the lakes area at the north of Italy – by the pristine Italian Alps.
Though the town of Porlezza is in Italy, it borders with Switzerland, and thus is a fusion between the sights of Alpine Switzerland, and the lively atmosphere, charm and colorfulness of Italy.
Lake Como is a short traveling distance (only 12km), and tourists can enjoy touring around the ancient towns to absorb the medieval charm.
